What to do on a cold winter day? Hit the holiday market of course!

Maybe it's the amount of movies portraying the holiday markets as being these magic places where good food and good shopping go hand in hand, or the name itself that made me believe Minneapolis' 2016 Holidazzle would be a winter dream come true. Let me say, it was everything but that.

We arrived to find only a few tents to be set up, with not many shops to go around, and very few food stations. There wasn't much to choose from, but we found comfort drinking hot apple cider from Sociable Cider Werks, and munching on some Polish and German hotdogs. The sausages were delicious - especially the Polish one! - and the buns were a wonderful reminder of the french brioche. We also had the baby pancakes covered with chocolate and whip cream, which were equally delicious.

In the background, a local band was playing Christmas music, and people were either ice skating in the nearby ring, or warming themselves up around bonfires. We decided to skip all of that (mostly because we had Kai with us, and he was getting way to excited around all the food smells), and head home to relax in the comfort of our heater and our PJs.

To be fair, this was my first Holidazzle and as such, I really had nothing to compare it to. The information on the website however did let me believe it would be a great event. Maybe it was, and i just happened to have high expectations. Maybe it wasn't. Nonetheless, it's a good event to check out, especially if one has no particular plans for the weekend.
