New York Botanical Garden in December

Jane Watson Irwin Perennial Garden

The weather in Texas has been very unsettling over the past year. Case point: it is December, one would expect some snow on the ground or at least a decent amount of cold temperatures. Instead, yesterday we had as high as 81F degrees (that's 27C) outside and today, (behold!) it is 52 F(11C). As you can see, very unsettling.

This reminded me of another unsettling weather episode I encountered this time of the year, only in New York. New York in December, and you instantly imagine tons of snow, Christmas decorations everywhere, and just the holiday spirit overall. Must be all the Christmas movies which painted New York for me in this dreamy state. Anyway, the point is, as I was recalling my time in New York last year, I remembered that I hadn't yet shared with you photos from that time period.

You probably are still recovering from Christmas, and slowly getting ready to celebrate the end of the year this weekend, but here it is: a throwback (conveniently it's Thursday!) to this time last year. It was my first time visiting the Botanical Garden, despite having been to the City multiple times over the years. Sure, there was no snow laying around, but the place was still wonderful. I loved the train expo, which they host every year around Christmas time. It was truly magical and put me right into a holiday mood. Bottom line, if you haven't been to the Gardens, go. If you need a 24h plan in the City, hop on the subway or take uber/cab down to the Bronx, and just go. I promise, you won't regret it! Plus, if you are truly lucky, you might actually have snow to welcome you.
