About two years ago, one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the city had caught fire and closed down. I was saddened and worried that this would be it for Tokyo Cafe in Fort Worth. Fast forward til now,  when I had the pleasure to visit the newly renovated building and try my hand at their menu.

The new building looks amazing. The window treatment allows for plenty of daylight to shine in, giving the place a welcoming feel. Lanterns are hung in some part of the restaurant, which features modern seating arrangements. There is even a small izakaya area, as well as a sushi bar station for those who don't mind eating in front of the chef. The whole place has been completely transformed without losing the familiar touch of the previous grounds.
The menu has been kept pretty much the same (plus new dishes) from what I can remember. Rolls were ordered (both vegetarian and pescatarian), as well as a bowl of their pork loin ramen. I couldn't remember whether or not I had ordered in the past their classic rolls, and found them to be pretty good. My favorite was the Rainbow roll - made with 5 different types of raw fish.  The ramen bowl I ordered wasn't too bad itself, but definitely not as good as the one I usually have at Hanabi. I think the difference lies in the broth - Tokyo Cafe uses mainly a miso-based broth for their ramen. I forgot to order their Tok fries, which come with a special dip that will blow your mind. Oh well, I guess I will have to go back and try some speciality rolls as well as their bento box (served during lunch time only).

Overall, I was pretty pleased with my dinner. I am glad that Tokyo Cafe is back and will be eating there pretty soon again.
