Hello lovelies,
Recently I was selected by Influenster to be one of the recipients of the remastered iconic YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils* mascara. You can imagine how excited I was when I received the news. I've been reviewing beauty products for a little bit under a year and it is something I really enjoy. I never mention a product here which I didn't like - which explains why not all the products Influenster sends me end up on this blog. I've been using YSL products for a couple of years now and have never found a complaint. I didn't really have the occasion to try their mascara, as I usually gravitated around the Chanel, Dior and Maybeline mascaras. So I was very pleased to be given the opportunity to try one of my favorite beauty brands. Today I want to share a quick review of this product with you.

First thing I noticed when unpacking the mascara, was how similar the package looked to my already own Rouge Volupé Lipstick by YSL. All draped in gold. I totally love this packaging, as it gives the whole line an uplift, making it very classy. Imagine pulling such a stylish tube out of your makeup bag in a public bathroom - a game changer, wouldn't you say? Plus it give you something to talk about with other ladies in the bathroom, should the packaging catch their eye ;)

I have many mascaras each for a different purpose. So far the most "voluminous" of them all is my Rimmel mascara, but this YSL comes quite close. I love that I can modulate it to give a really full effect, or a more reserved look to my lashes, making it the perfect daily companion. If my Rimmel is more reserved for going out and the nightlife, I can totally see the YSL becoming part of my every day, morning routine. It is easy to apply, doesn't clump, doesn't leak and smudge all over your face, and most importantly doesn't weight on the lashes. So you never have the impression of actually wearing the mascara. And that is very important to me. If there is one thing I look for when wearing mascara, is getting that "natural flawless lashes" look, and after a week of daily wear, I am slowly falling in love with this product.

Have you tried this or any other YSL mascaras?
What is your favorite mascara of the moment?
* Disclaimer: Although I received this product for review porposes, all opinions are genuine and solely mine.

  1. Aww thank you, Anouk! I'd say this YSL compares more to Le Volume de Chanel. Haven't tried Diorshow yet. And I have never worn falsies, I don't know I don't like feeling like I'm wearing something on my face, hence my reticence for falsies. Can you tell?

  2. Looking wonderful :) I'd really like to try this!
