Ice and rain knocked against my window all night, offering a sort of comfort and reminiscence of Cameroonian (tropical) rainstorms. I slept so good that I did not want to leave the comfort of my bed. I walked this morning to the window to discover the first snow of the year. There is something about it, especially seeing it lay down on the palm trees and the green grass. The whole scene is so serene. And the fact that work and school have been canceled due to the ice on the ground make this morning even more special. I don't have particular plans for the day except doing some work, skype with my besties, read and catch up on blogs. Yesterday was a very busy day spent baking and studying for my classes that Sunday did not feel restful at all! I am glad though to have the opportunity to do just that today!

Today is the Defender of the Fatherland Day in several ex-Soviet Union countries and I wish all of the military and veterans a happy holiday! Thank you for your work and sacrifices! Also, today marks the beginning of Lent for the Orthodox community! I decided to actually try to observe the lent this year, so we will see how that goes! Hope everyone is having a great case of Mondays ;)

  1. You're so lucky to only experience your first snow now! I've had to deal with it for the past two months and I can't wait for spring :)

  2. I know! We have been very lucky this year. I think this might be the only snow we get, as the temperatures are to go up this week. I can't wait for spring either! :)
